Political Earthquake- Article 370

Article 370 has been in place since the accession of Jammu and Kashmir to India and grants special status to J&K. Under this article, Indian laws did not apply to the state except those related to defence, communications and external affairs. For any other laws, the agreement of State assembly was needed.

Article 370 was revoked(scrapped) today by the Modi government. The state will also be divided into two union territories, Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir. With Kashmir’s special status now gone, J&K will not have a a separate constitution and flag. Indian residents can now purchase land in Kashmir and settle there permanently, a right they did not have before. The right to information and right to education will now be applicable in the state.

Home Minister Amit Shah said that this will lead to full Integration of Kashmir and bring economic prosperity. To ensure the security of all, 8000 additional troops will be placed in Jammu and Kashmir and all security forces are on high alert. According to many history was created with abolishment of this law. Do you agree? Do you think this will help the country? Tell us in the comments below..
